Wedding in the Museum of frescoes

The famous San Francesco al Corso monastery, where Romeo and Juliet secretly married, is worth visiting not only because of the Juliet’s tomb. Since 1973, the Museum of Frescoes has been located here. It has a collection of frescoes that were removed for various reasons from Verona’s churches and city institutions. The oldest and hence the most valuable copies dated since the 12th century. On the second floor of the museum you can see the frescoes of the 1180 that were found beneath the later layers of wall paintings in the Santi Nazaro e Celso church. Juliet’s tomb is just one part of the magnificent Giovanni Battista Cavalcaselle Museum of Frescoes. The glorious art of Verona’s past centuries is represented here: not only frescoes but also statues and renovated paintings. For instance, the Guarienti Hall, where wedding ceremonies are held, is decorated with Paolo Farinati frescoes dating 16 century.
